Our Institute was created in 1981 - on the occasion of the first European Council held in Maastricht - to support the European Union and its Member States by providing relevant and high-quality services to develop the capacities of public officials in dealing with EU affairs. As a foundation supported by the European Commission through the European Union budget, we are independent of national and political allegiances.
